Current Projects
- As a start to this vision, Smile for Life has adopted 2 government schools in Secunderabad and through fun and interaction, lessons in Communicative English and Science are being imparted to the students.
- A Used Book Drive has been conducted in 2 locations – Begumpet and Tarnaka – where the response was tremendous as over 300 English books for children were donated by residents in the area. Once these books have been classified and documented, they will be donated to unaided schools and orphanages creating a library which will aid in the learning process of a needy child. This is a continuous process and such drives will be conducted once in a quarter in different areas
- Associated with an organization that provides for more than 50 HIV+ and AIDS affected children - some of whom have been abandoned by their parents or society. Smile for Life has agreed to provide a teacher, necessary educational support, books, stationery etc
- Associated with an Orphanage that is a home for over 25 children. These children have been neglected by their parents for want of money and this orphanage has given them a roof over their heads. The children are taken care of by a couple who live with these children.
Proposed Projects
- Dhoom 2010 is the proposed summer camp for underprivileged, destitute and orphan children being conducted in various areas of the twin cities, wherein children with the aptitude for fine arts such as embroidery, painting, pottery, music, singing, dancing etc can hone their skills. Besides interactive sessions on teamwork, communicative English, Science, History etc will also be conducted.
- Smile for Life also has plans to conduct various events, EduTours, Science fairs, interactive sessions with parents etc to bring out the best from students and inculcate the habit of managing time properly to develop overall personality.
Smile for Life is planning to setup Centre for Social Empowerment in the second half of 2009 and reach out to youth (educated, uneducated, unemployed) in the rural areas and work with them on various initiatives like Education, Healthcare, Vocational Training, Creating Self-Help Groups etc to create employment and entrepreneurial opportunities
